Web Designer + Front-End Developer + Vibe Coder

Welcome to my portfolio site! My name is Liz Lau and I am a self-taught freelance web designer and front-end developer. In my previous work experiences, I was a laboratory technician and research associate for academic research institutes and scientific companies for a span of 10 years. During those years, as side interests, I also had experiences working in audio recording and editing for audiobooks/podcasts, and updating and managing websites for companies.

While updating content for websites, I was curious as to how websites were built. So I decided as an endeavor to learn about web design and coding. Through watching many video tutorials and reading many google searched content on web coding, I built websites as a side interest through trial-and-error to learn how to design and code. From creating these websites, I learned a lot about web design and front-end development and discovered that I like building websites A LOT!!! Hmmmm, career change? Let’s give it a go! So here I am today. I enjoy discovering new methods and ideas on how to creatively build websites and constantly learning new things everyday.

With the emerging AI technologies available today, I am prompting to incorporate the use of AI to better enhance what I already know. This "vibe coding" with the coding knowledge I already have allows me to create ideas I never thought I could create - that is in the realm of apps and gaming. AI isn't going anywhere, so I am going to embrace it, evolve with it, learn from it, and hopefully come out with some great ideas!

What else about me? Music and the arts ... I love playing the piano, bass guitar, dabble on some drums, and learning how to play the ukulele. Also recently, I have an interest in learning about ceramics and how to make pottery. Maybe I can show you some ceramic artwork in the future, I may have to create another website!
